A huge congratulations to New Zealand’s own Maggie Li, our newest World Champion Line Dancer! 🎉 Maggie claimed victory at the WDM World Championships (Intermediate Gold), competing in three dances and winning her entire category.

Linedance NZ had a quick chat with Maggie as she celebrated alongside fellow New Zealanders, Australians, and dancers from around the world tonight (well, their night in Blackpool, UK)…

Maggie shared this message:

“Thanks everyone for supporting me, especially the dancers from my Friday class who stayed up all night to watch me compete live online. It has been a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to anyone. Special thanks to Jaime Ngawaka for training me over the last few months, William Plain for choreographing my variations of the three dances, and Bridget King for always being there to support me in Blackpool. I wouldn’t have achieved this without their help.”

From all of us at LDNZ—and I’m sure from dancers across New Zealand—a massive congratulations, Maggie! It’s been amazing following your journey. Rest up, have a safe trip home, and we can’t wait to see you back on the dance floor.
